November Updates
Hey hellions and heaveneers! Luc here with some updates for the coming year.
It's November, and after assessing the activity at Heckin over the course of the whole year, we've decided that going full Sandbox mode is the way forward. activity fluctuates during the year based on everyone's RL situations and their other games, since Heckin is meant to be a backburner game for folks. So, to keep Heckin' sustainable as a sandbox game, we're instituting some changes in 2026 to make it more... sandboxy.
1. Time Changes and Update Schedule!
Time's already wonky here at Heckin', so we're gonna take advantage of that. In 2026, there will be Four Major Events (think like how we did Mermay and Camp in 2025, though we'll do different stuff this time!) total and maybe a few mini-events here and there maybe. We're gonna make time progress Seasonally— moving to a different time of the year every three months in a four month cycle.
There will be logs put up quarterly, and any updates that occur in the same season will update within the Log Page, rather than making a new log. You'll be keep your older toplevels around in more accessible places and keep tagging on them throughout the Season.
That means you don't have to worry about thinking about 3:1 or any particular time ratios; just choose whatever part of the season you want to play in and go for it. Time isn't real and everyone's dead.
2. Updating the Info Pages!
The extra time allotted from that schedule will give your mods the time to update all the setting info on the things that you constantly have available to you— making it easier to interact with the different circles of heaven/hell and to make it easier to introduce player plots and the like.
In the meantime, we'll make sure that all of the places you can go are revisited in the January log in some small part as a quick reference.
3. Fixing Check-in!
We're still working out a solution but we'd like to make check-in even easier without breaking the formatting of the AC check-in-list. so we're gonna work on that and make it unbreakable. Promise. A potential solution may also involve quarterly AC rather than monthly.
4. Continuing Applications despite Sandbox Mode, and Remaining Readable!
Applications to this game are more of a contract where you agree to follow the rules of the game. If you drop, you won't lose reading access; you simply won't be counted among those present for certain events.
You will only lose reading access to the community if you are removed for a disciplinary issue.
All we ask is that you use this privilege wisely and don't share other people's threads without their permission.
5. Making Player Plots easier!
We're hoping to have a set of guidelines established so that you can jettison the idea of a long player plot approval process and instead just kind of go ahead and do stuff!
We hope these changes will keep Heckin' Game sustainable as a sandbox, give you more permission and power to create your own plots, and make it easier to stay and play through tough times of the year.
As always, please feel free to leave comments and concerns here!
